Bank of America Outside Counsel
The bank follows specially-designed procedures, commonly referred to as Outside Counsel procedures, to outsource its legal requirements into able hands and get the services from qualified lawyers only. An individual attorney or a law firm should comply fully to these procedures in order to achieve a successful synchronization with the department's own lawyers and manage Bank of America's legal affairs effectively. Moreover, the bank reserves the right to refuse payment or even take a unilateral decision of termination if an individual or a law firm fails to comply the procedures fully.
A law firm willing to provide outside legal services to the bank should enter into a written agreement with the bank, which is a part of the outside counsel procedures. The terms of the engagement agreed upon are binding to the attorneys, paralegals and other assistants who work on a particular legal matter associated with the bank. The law firm must ensure that a copy of BOA legal department's procedures is provided to each member of its team before the work on a legal issue begins. Though there may be some exceptions to these procedures depending upon the countries of operation, a law firm must adhere to the normal procedures unless directed specifically.
