DDA Housing Scheme 2010

The much-awaited DDA Housing Scheme 2010 has now been launched, with a whopping 16000 flats up for grab this time. Delhites have eagerly been waiting for the launch date of the scheme since the end of the Commonwealth Games in October. Following the announcement by DDA officials on Tuesday, the new residential housing scheme opened on November 25 and the first day saw the huge rush of people seeking application forms at different banks in the city. Despite the fact that only a fraction of those applying will eventually succeed in the draw based on a lottery system, the jubilation and extreme hope can be seen on the faces of applicants.

The last date of submitting the completed DDA Housing Scheme 2010 Application Form is 24 December 2010 and nobody wants to miss the huge opportunity of owning a home in Delhi this time. The houses up for sale are located in areas like Rohini, Dwarka, Vasant Kunj, Jasola, Motia Khan and Mukherjee Nagar. The prices of these residential flats, which come under 1, 2 and 3 BHK categories range from Rs. 9 lakh to 1.2 crore. This is the first time in the history of Delhi Development Authority that the price has exceeded the 1 crore mark.

It is estimated that over 10 lakh forms would be sold during the registration period. The price of the form is Rs. 106 inclusive of all surcharges but the deposit amount is Rs 1.5 Lakhs for two and three BHK flats. Three BHK apartments, which are fully furnished and carry a premium price tag, are available only in Vasant Kung. The deposit amount for one bedroom houses, popularly known as Janta flats, is just Rs. 50,000. Most of these flats are largely located in Jasola, Rohini and Dwarka areas.

Though the amount can only be deposited through the channel of bank, the applicants have option to download the form online as well. This can be done by visiting the official website of Delhi Development Authority and clicking over the appropriate link. You need to text in your name in order to generate the application form, which bears your name and a unique application number. It is also possible to check the application status online.

The brochure and other details regarding the complete application process are available at the website of Delhi Development Authority. According to these, only those who have a bank account and a valid Pan Card can apply for the allotment of flats under the scheme. There is no minimum income requirement and both husband and wife are eligible to apply. However, only one of them will qualify for the allotment in case both have their names appeared in the draw result.

The tentative date for the publication of the draw result has not been announced yet but it is expected to be in the month of April, 2011. The DDA brochure has also laid out its reservation policy and according to it, about 17.5 percent of housing units will go to the people belonging to Scheduled Castes and 7.5 percent of the same is reserved for Scheduled Tribes. The scheme has also reserved one percent of the total number of houses for sale each for physically handicapped, war widows and ex-servicemen.
