MHADA Mumbai |
MHADA Mumbai, also known as Mumbai Housing and Area Development Authority, caters to the varying housing requirements of residents living in and around of the metropolitan city of Mumbai. It functions under Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority in conjunction with two other special purpose boards, namely Mumbai Building Repairs and Reconstruction Board (MBRRB) and Mumbai Slum Improvement Board (MSIB). MBRRB and MBIS too are part of the Maharashtra Housng and Area Development Authority.
The objective for the establishment of MHADA was to create a better, cost-effective and hygienic housing environment for the people living in Mumbai and the semi-urban areas surrounding it. Mumbai, the city of dreams as it is known nationwide, has a large number of residents who find it extremely difficult to fulfill their dreams of owning a home.
It is but the existence of MHADA and its unrelenting efforts that have kept alive the dream of homeownership for these people, which mainly come from the low- or middle-income group. That is why the housing schemes for the allotment of MHADA LIG and MIG flats are highly popular among common masses. These schemes are often flooded with an extremely large number of application forms, which force MHADA to take the help of a lottery system in order to allocate flats in a fairly and expeditious manner.
MHADA Mumbai Flats
MHADA Mumbai Flats are made available for home seekers of different categories. Based on the income of the applicants, the authority invites applications for the allotments of EWS, LIG, MIG and HIG flats through advertisements. The popularity of MHADA flats among the residents of Maharashtra usually results in an excessively large number of applicants, thus forcing the authority to use a lottery system for impartial allotments. After the last date of application, all submitted forms are scrutinized and the eligibility of the applicants is checked at the very first level. Then a lottery draw is put in place involving all scrutinized forms followed by the publication of the draw results in leading newspapers and also online. Obviously, the winners of the MHADA lottery and probably those who make it to the waiting list will get to live in the flats offered by Mumbai Housing and Area Development Authority.
