Arkansas Appraisal Board

Arkansas Appraiser Licensing and Certification Board is a state government agency, which looks after the licensing requirements of real estate appraisers in the state of Arkansas. Besides, it also act as a chief agency to make regulation for the systematic and proper functioning of real estate appraisers. The primary duties of Arkansas Appraisal Board includes establishment and maintenance of qualification standards for licensed appraisers working in the state. The work also involves testing and evaluation of the competency level and educational backgrounds of the applicants.

It was the enactment of the Title XI of the Financial Institutions Reform, Recovery and Enforcement Act of 1989 (FIRREA), that prompted the creation of the Arkansas Appraiser Licensing and Certification Board. The act made it necessary for each of the state to establish an agency to fulfill the licensing requirements of the appraisers. As a result, the Arkansas Appraiser Board was constituted in the year 1991 during the meet of 78th General Assembly. There are eleven members in the Arkansas Appraiser Licensing Board and all of these members are appointed by the Governor. Among the eleven members, seven are practicing appraisers.

The objective of the board is to define testing parameters for eligible real estate appraisers and to issue Arkansas appraisal license to the candidates who succeed in the exams it conducts. The board can also take disciplinary action against those licensed appraisers who do not comply the guidelines set by the federal or state governments. The courses it offers for the licensing purposes are continuously updated to conform to the latest regulation and changing trends. Hence, the certification from the Arkansas Appraisal Board also helps licensees excel in their professions and satisfy their clients.
