Arkansas Unclaimed Property |
Arkansas Unclaimed Property is handled by the Arkansas Auditor of State through a separate division called Unclaimed Property Division. The Auditor of State Unclaimed Property Division is responsible for maintaining a database of all types of unclaimed properties, which may include bank accounts, uncashed checks, stock certificates, various funds and utility deposits. All these properties come under the control of the State through companies who are unable to locate their respective owners.
In fact, the The Arkansas Unclaimed Property Act makes it necessary for companies, banks and financial institutions to turn over properties of unknown owners to the state auditor, if they fail to trace them within a period of five years. This makes it easy for the people in Arkansas also to find their lost properties, as they can now have only one place to search.
