The National Association of Realtors is a countrywide association for licensed real estate practitioners and is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois. The main objective of the association is to unite real estate professionals throughout the nation and help them grow personally and professionally.
It also aims at protecting and promoting the interests of its members and the entire real estate industry during legislation process. In order to achieve its objectives, the National Association of Realtors continuously develops resources, organizes events and provides a plethora of services to its members through a properly managed hierarchy of regional associations or boards at state and city levels.
There are 50 state-level associations that represent realtors in that particular state. Each member of a State Association can be a member of one or more local boards or associations falling under the jurisdiction of that state association. Any real estate professional who has got a license to run a real estate business can join a board/association of Realtors and gain membership to the State Association as well as the National Association of Realtors.
There are more than 1700 local boards/associations across the US. The members of a local board are also the members of their State Association and the National Association of Realtors.
Today, more than one million real estate licensees are bearing the tag of REALTORS. As a result, the National Association of Realtors along with its diaspora is considered as one of the largest associations in the North America.
While the objectives of all the state associations remain the same and very much reflect the ideas embodied in the mission statement of the National Association of Realtors, the services offered by each of them may have slight variation. For most of their products and services they depend on the resources developed by the NAR and many of its affiliated organizations.
Furthermore, the members of all these associations are regulated by a Code of Ethics and Standards of Practices, which is the most important distinguishing feature between a Realtor and a common real estate licensee. Besides, the immense opportunities provided by each of the state associations to its members for further professional development sets realtors completely apart from others.
Realestatezing.com has made a sincere effort to bring forth a detailed account of each of the 50 State Associations in its various pages. |
