The Department of Real Estate in California, DRE was established in 1917 with the formulation of first ever Real Estate Law in the nation. With this law licensing practices and licensees are regulated and real estate laws for many other states also work on the same pattern. The role of the commissioner is to regulate Real Estate Law and the Subdivided Lands Law. Formal hearings against the complaints are also held by the California real estate commissioner. DRE gives license to the Real Estate Brokers and Salesperson. Before applying for the real estate license all the formalities of education and experience should be cleared. CA real estate dept also handles the renewal of the license.
The California Real Estate Commission/Department also has the Enforcement and Audit Sections that work on the complaints, which are given by the public in written against licensees or subdividers for violating the law.
The Real Estate Department in California also has the Recovery Account in which monetary loss of the consumer because of the illegal practices of licensed real estate broker or salesperson is fulfilled. This is a separate account of Real Estate Fund.
