|Connecticut is the fourth most densely populated state with an estimated population of about 3.4 million residents living in an area of 5,543 square miles. The state is situated in the New England region of the northeastern US. Its neighborhood consists of Massachusetts to the north, Rhode island to the east and New York to the west and south. Increasing prosperity of the people living here has brought Connecticut among the list of states with highest per capita income and human development index. Hartford is the capital while Bridgeport is the largest city of the state.
