Houston Housing Authority, Texas was established in 1938 under the US Housing Act of 1937. Main aim of the Housing Authority was to create safe and affordable housing opportunities for everyone. The housing authority has seen many ups and downs but has never got deviated from its original track. At present it is helping more than 60,000 people across the city. Under the Housing Authority there are 19 residential communities with about 200 single-family homes and more than 4,000 homes for rent.
Along with this the Houston Housing Authority also takes up many homeownership programs, such as:- Low-Rent Public Housing Program
- Housing Choice Voucher Program (section 8)
- Homeownership and Self-sufficiency Programs
- Moderate Rehabilitation
- Disaster Housing Assistance Program (DHAP)
