Kansas Real Estate Appraisal Board

Kansas Real Estate Appraisal Board (KREAB) is the state's regulatory agency for real estate appraisers. It also provides a lot of other services to the applicants, appraisers and general public. Besides being the de jure agency for licensure, the Kansas Appraisal Board develops education resources for the benefit of real estate appraisers and informs them of relevant industry news. Moreover, the board provides a platform to the citizens of the state for filing complaints against those KS appraisers who do not comply its rules and regulations. As a chief guardian of public welfare in matters of real estate appraisal, the KS Appraisal Board ensures swift action on such complaints.

Kansas Real Estate Appraisal Board: Its Membership

The Kansas Real Estate Appraisal Board is comprised of seven members, who are appointed by the governor. The members of the board should represent financial institutions as well as the general public besides including real estate appraisers. These members consider the eligibility criteria of applicants for issuing appraisal licenses and certifications. The minimum requirements for education and experience are determined in accordance with the criteria laid down by the Appraisal Qualifications Board, although they differ for each type of licensure.

Kansas Real Estate Appraiser License

The Kansas Appraisal Board offers four types of appraisal licensure. There is a variation in scope of practice in each of these, which are State Licensed Real Property Appraiser, Certified Residential Real Property Appraiser, Certified General Real Property Appraiser and State Licensed Provisional Real Property Appraiser (Trainee). Those who do not have experience but possess all education requirements can go for Provisional classification of the licensure. Such applicants are advised to have a supervisor appraiser before beginning the process of pre-licensing education or testing. They can also join an Appraisal School for license-specific real estate appraisal courses.

KS Real Estate Appraisers: Their Services

Kansas Real Estate Appraisers help several industries functions smoothly and with credibility. For example, the process of home mortgage loan or the foreclosure in Kansas depends much on the fair execution of real estate appraisal involved. Thus, the existence of Kansas Real Estate Appraisal Board as a state-authorized, regulatory and licensing body is very important for a healthy business environment.
