| New Hampshire is located in the northeastern part of the United States of America. Its total area is 9,350 square miles with a population of about 1.3 million residents. It ranks 46th in total area and 41st in population. In terms of population density, it has a rank of 20 among all US states providing shelter to more than 146 persons per square mile. The median income is $60,441, which is the fifth highest in the country. New Hampshire was at the forefront of the movement that laid the foundation of United States of America. It joined the Union in 1788 and became the ninth state to ratify the US Constitution. It was the first to implement its own constitution. New Hampshire lies in the New England region and has a very short borderline with the Canadian province of Quebec to the north. Vermont borders it to the west and Maine to the east. Massachusetts lies to its southern boundary. Mount Washington, at a height of 6,288 feet, is the highest point while its lowest point is the sea level. Manchester is the largest city and Concord is the state capital. |
