NC Property Tax is assessed and collected, locally, by the counties. Each count has its own officials for appraising real property and collecting property taxes. According to the North Carolina Property Tax Law, all real property within the state must be reappraised every eight years for taxation purposes. However, some counties prefer to do it on a four year cycle and in order to do so, they may also hire professional appraisers and consultants other than their usual staff. The regular period for NC Property Tax Listing is usually the month of January every year. This listing period may be extended for 30 more days during a non-reappraisal year and for 60 more days during a reappraisal year.
