Ohio Appraisal Board is a part of the Ohio Division of Real Estate and Professional Licensing, which itself is part of the Ohio Department of Commerce. The Division of Real Estate and Professional Licensing is the chief organization to license various kinds of professionals engaged in real estate business. The licensing needs of real estate appraisers in Ohio are also taken care of by the Division through one of its specialized working sections, which may be referred to as Ohio Real Estate Appraisal Board or simply Ohio Appraisal Board. The primary function of the board includes licensure or certification, education & testing and enforcement of appraisal laws.Ohio Real Estate CoursesTo obtain license from the board, the applicant must have completed the courses approved by the Ohio Appraisal Board on the recommendations of the Appraisal Qualifications Board. The courses include 30 hours in Basic Appraisal Principles, another 30 hours in Basic Appraisal Procedures and15 hours in Residential Market Analysis and Highest and Best Use along with 15 hours in USPAP course or its equivalent. Thus, a total of 90 classroom hours is among the basic requirements for most of the licensing categories. There are other educational requirements also, which may include qualifying education and continuing education.Ohio Real Estate Appraiser LicenseThe Ohio Appraisal Board offers different kinds of licensure for different levels of appraisers. These categories of Ohio Appraisal License include Certified General Appraiser, Certified Residential Appraiser and Licensed Residential Appraiser. All these licensing categories require experiences as well.
