Ohio Real Estate License Requirements

Ohio real estate licensing requirements for every professional are bit different from each other. Real Estate Agents can get OH real estate license at the age of 18 years. These agents will have to clear the real estate agent exam that consists of two levels. After getting the license 30 hours of continuing education within the period of three years are must to be done. These courses must be cleared before the date of birth of the applicant. Any candidate who is involved or has violated the laws of real estate can be denied for getting the real estate license in Ohio. But if the Superintendent of the Division of Real Estate gets the proof proving the innocence then this license can be issued.

Real estate salesperson need high school diploma or GED (if born after 1950) to get the Ohio real estate license. Candidate who is not a licensed salesperson or broker within the period of four years immediately before filing an application need 120 classroom hours in the courses that are specially assigned to them. Ten years of period is given for the completion of these courses immediately before applying for the real estate license in Ohio.

OH Real Estate Broker License

For getting OH real estate license, brokers need to fulfill the educational requirements, which are as follow:
  • There is no need of the additional courses for the candidates who are licensed before 2nd January, 1972
  • 120 classroom hours of courses are needed if the candidate is licensed between 2 January 1972 to 3 January 1984.
  • 240 hours of classroom courses are required if the applicant is licensed between 3rd January 1984 to 1st August 2001
  • Applicant who are licensed after 1st August 2001 also require 240 hours, which are different from the above mentioned courses. In addition to this two years of college education is also mandatory for Ohio real estate licensing.
Experience required for getting brokers real estate license in OH is two years (30 hours per week) either as salesperson or broker. Along with this 20 real estate transaction must have been completed before getting Ohio real estate license.

Real Estate License Renewal

Real estate license in Ohio expires each year on the date of birth of the applicant. For the license renewal proof of continuing education 60 days before the date of expiration is given.
