South Carolina Appraisal Board

South Carolina Appraisal Board is officially named as South Carolina Real Estate Appraisers Board and has been established as an independent body under the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation. The South Carolina Appraisers Board is entrusted with the responsibility to establish qualifications for the licensure, registration and certification of SC appraisers, conduct examinations, investigate complaints and take action appropriately, maintain discipline in appraisal practices and regulate matters that can insure reliable and efficient services by its licensees.

South Carolina Appraisers License

The members of the SC Appraisal Board meet regularly to consider applications for licensure and certifications. The licenses issued by the board fall into seven categories, which are Apprentice, Licensed, Licensed Mass, Certified General, Certified Residential, Certified Residential Mass and Certified General Mass. Each of these categories has educational and experience requirements quite different from the others. Their scopes of operation also differ from one another. While determining the minimum qualifications required for any these licensures or certifications, the SC Appraisers Board follows the guidelines provided by the Appraisal Qualifications Board.

South Carolina Real Estate Appraisal Board

One of the objectives of the South Carolina Real Estate Appraisal Board is to provide protection to consumers against an instance of misconduct by its licensed appraisers. If confronted with such an incident, a consumer can register a complaint by filling in the complaint form and mailing it to the Office of Investigations and Enforcement in South Carolina. On receiving the complaints, the South Carolina Appraisal Board establishes a jurisdiction and conducts a thorough investigation. The report of the investigation is submitted to an Investigative Review Committee (IRC), which can recommend a course of action. Complainants are also informed properly and even their presence may be required during the process of hearing.
