Tennessee Real Estate Commission

Tennessee Real Estate Commission was established in 1951 that regulates and issues license to the real estate brokers, real estate firms, affiliate brokers, timeshare salesperson, vacation club and lodging and rental location agents. It also implements the Tennessee Real Estate Broker's Licensing Law.

Complaints against the licensed real estate professionals, who according to the complainant have acted against the real estate law are made to the Tennessee Real Estate Commission. Unlicensed real estate individuals do not come under the jurisdiction of the real estate commission and thus no action can be taken against them. Along with this recovery of fund or payment of the same is also not done by the commission. For this Civil Lawsuit and attorneys should be consulted. Complaints are made on the notarized complaint form and with all the required and relevant documents mailed to the Tennessee Real Estate Commission. For further inquiry these complaints are sometimes forwarded to the Investigation Section or the Auditor. Real Estate Commission, Tennessee after proper investigation, necessary steps on the disciplinary action or dismissal of the case is taken. The list of the violations that are considered by the TN Real Estate Commission has been given, which can be checked online.

Tennessee Real Estate Commission Rules

Issuing of the real estate license is done according to the 1973 Tennessee Real Estate Brokers Act, Rules, Regulations and Tennessee Time Share Act. Non resident can also apply for the real estate license because of the reciprocity agreement with twenty two other states. But before real estate license, it is the pre-licensing education and examination, which is mandatory. These schools of real estate are approved by the Tennessee Real Estate Comm. Now the requirements of education for brokers, salesperson, associate brokers are different. Like brokers need to have 120 hours of classroom education and 30 hours of Office/broker Management course from the approved schools. For the renewal of the license Tennessee Real Estate Commission has laid down certain guidelines. According to these brokers who are licensed after January 1, 2001 should complete 120 hours and brokers who are licensed after January 1, 2005 should go for the continuing education that is given by the real estate commission approved education providers.

TN Real Estate Board/Commission therefore regulates everything that is necessary to smoothen the road of real estate. This includes pre-licensing education, examination to get the license, post licensing education for the renewal of the license and complaints for unlawful activities. Apart from this schools providing education are also accredited by the Real Estate Commission in Tennessee. But in all the cases TN Real Estate Board/Commission keeps the public interest at the topmost position.
