Wisconsin Real Estate License Requirements

Wisconsin real estate licensing has been made compulsory to be in the real estate market as a professional. Wisconsin Real Estate License is issued to the resident as well as non-resident real estate professionals and it is the Real Estate Board with the Wisconsin Department of Regulation and Licensing that handles this aspect.

License Requirements for Salesperson

Salesperson can get WI real estate license after completing 72 hours of education in the real estate. Active real estate professional in other states can also apply for Wisconsin real estate license but for this they should have an experience of two years. For this first of all they will have to take the Reciprocity course that is taken through the Wisconsin Association of Realtors . Then after this real estate exam can be given for the license. Applicants from other states also need to complete 13 specific hours and 10 semester hour credits of the courses that are approved by the Licensing Department.

Real Estate Licensing for Brokers


Wisconsin real estate licensing needs for the brokers have also been specified. 20 semester hours should be completed by all the applicants for broker's license. Licensed real estate brokers from the states other than WI should have two years of experience. Candidates first of all will have to take the real estate course through Association of Realtors and then they will have to clear brokers real estate license exam. After clearing the exam every applicant can apply for the WI real estate license and this can be done within a year of passing the exam.

Wisconsin Real Estate License Renewal

Wisconsin real estate license renewal occurs once in two years and license expires on 31st December of even numbered year. Renewal of the real estate license in WI can be done online in the website of the Department of Regulation and Licensing. License fee along with continuing education is submitted. If it is not renewed on time then the real estate license requires reinstatement, which can be done after submitting the required fee and completing all other formalities.
